Squawkers is the home of new comedy in Exeter — maybe not the home, but at least the AirBnB of new comedy in Exeter.

The monthly Sunday New Material nights, hosted by Exeter’s second‑favourite bearded, bald, and bespectacled MC, Sam Coleslaw, have earned a reputation for their warm atmosphere and delightful creative chaos. And now, like a Sunday league side improbably making the quarter‑finals of the FA Cup, the Squawkers A‑team are stepping up, bringing a slew of local talent to a Saturday night slot at the festival.
